Rodney Baker is considering his legal options after being reported as dead by the Guardian Newspaper.

Mr. Baker’s photograph was among several COVID fatalities published on the front page of the newspaper on Wednesday.

However Mr. Baker was discharged from hospital on Wednesday, having survived the coronavirus.

He confirmed that COVID-19 claimed the life of his wife 1 month ago.

On The Morning Show on i95.5fm yesterday, Mr. Baker said the error by the paper left him shaken.

He is in quarantine at home although he was last tested negative.

Mr. Baker said he prefers not to take the legal route but would if he has to.

The father of 2 said the loss of his wife has already dealt his family a significant blow.

He is hopeful the error will be corrected.

COVID-19 deaths continue to climb.

The Ministry of Health says the number of fatalities now stands at 341.

Ten patients died according to the latest update from the Ministry yesterday.

Dead are 2 elderly males, 6 elderly females, and1 middle-aged man all with comorbidities.

One young adult also died, but without comorbidities.

The release also says there were 558 new positive cases.

The Ministry also says there are 412 patients in hospital with 5,887 in home self-isolation.

The active cases are now at 6,998.

The Prison Service Association wants answers regarding vaccination for its members. 

President Cerron Richards tells Newscenter 5, people in other sectors considered to be frontline workers, are already inoculated, yet his members are being left behind.

He says even the Prison administration is in the dark on this matter.

Mr. Richards wants National Security Minister Fitzgerald Hinds to state clearly the plan for the prison officers.

He laments that they are operating in a congested environment with a relentless virus.

In response Minister Hinds told Newscenter 5 his office is always open for dialogue with the Prison executive and the association.

The association is expected to host a news conference on the matter.

July 1^st is the new date for this year’s Secondary Entrance Assessment.

Minister of Education Dr. Nyan Gadsby Dolly announced the change yesterday.

The exam was carded for June 10^th.

The Minister said the recent surge in COVID-19 cases is the reason for the change.

Dr. Gadsby Dolly said the change would be a disappointment to many students who want to close this chapter in their preparations.

The teachers union welcomes the decision.

President of the Trinidad and Tobago Unified Teachers Association, Antonia Defrietas said yesterday, the change was necessary.

The Minister of Education said of the 19,829 students registered to write the SEA this year, 178 have asked for a deferral.

She said a number of pupils preparing to write the Caribbean Examination Council’s test are also requesting deferrals.

According to the Minister, 402 candidates have opted to write the CXC exams in 2022.

A police officer, attached to the Mon Repos station in south has been killed in a vehicular accident.

The officer has been identified as Kent Neptune.

The tragedy occurred last night along the Solomon Hochoy Highway, near the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba.

Reports say the officer was heading south along the highway when he lost control.

The vehicle overturned several times and crashed.

Officer Neptune was thrown from the car.

He died at the scene.

A 15-year-old boy is one of 50 people held for breaching the curfew now in place.

Among those held on the third night of the curfew were maxi taxi operators and the teenager who was reportedly on a joyride, after borrowing a relative’s vehicle.

The Northern Division saw the most arrests with 15 held.

It was within that division the 15-year-old was detained.

He is to be charged as well with operating a vehicle without a driver’s licence.

Thirteen arrests were made in the Arima district and 12 were held in Tobago.

Nine were arrested in the eastern division including 2 women.

Western and southwestern divisions saw 5 and 4 arrests respectively.

Port of Spain and northeastern divisions recorded one arrest each.

This brings the total number of persons held for breach of curfew to 75.

Members of the House of Representatives will next Monday consider an extension of the State Of Emergency, called by the Prime Minister and proclaimed by the President.

Confirmation of this has come from Attorney General Faris Al Rawi via TV6 news yesterday.

Mr. Al Rawi said it is a simple process as stated in the constitution of the country.

He said via its majority, the government could get an additional extension of 3 months for the SOE for a combined total of 6 months.

Any further extension would require a three-fifths majority vote of the two houses of parliament.

Opposition MP Dr. Roodal Moonilal said yesterday his bench would be fully engaged in the debate next week.

Dr. Moonilal said in principle there can be little objection to a State Of Emergency and a curfew

But Mr. Al Rawi said the 9pm to 5am curfew came from the medical advisers to the government.
