IMPASSE CONTINUES BETWEEN CAL AND ANGRY PILOTS…

The Trinidad and Tobago Airline Pilots Association is accusing Caribbean airlines of high jacking negotiations, with bargaining pilots.

TTALPA contends that its members have been taken hostage by the latest position, of the state owned airline.

TTALPA hosted a media briefing at the Queens Park Oval yesterday.

The union’s industrial relations officer Timothy Bailey, called for good sense prevail.

He outlined the issues affecting pilots.

Responding to the airline launching a Rum Punch and J’ouvert Band, Mr. Bailey said, CAL has its priorities in the wrong place.

GOVERNMENT FAILS TO PASS TOBAGO AMENDMENT BILL…

Self-rule in Tobago stumbles again, as the government fails to have passed the autonomy bill in the House of Representatives.

The constitution amendment Tobago self-government bill, which required a three-fourths majority in the lower house, was not supported by the opposition.

Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley made the attempt, to have a successful passage of the bill yesterday.

The government blames the opposition and the Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly yesterday.

Chief Secretary Farley Augustine responded to the development describing it as nothing short of a travesty, a miscarriage of democracy and a mockery.

Mr. Augustine said, his administration called for some amendment to be made.

Earlier, Dr. Rowley took issue with Chief Secretary Farley Augustine’s intervention to halt the parliamentary proceedings, during the committee stage of the Tobago island government bill 2021.

But before this, MP for Barataria San Juan, Saddam Hosein said the Chief Secretary had made a call for the sitting to be postponed.

The Prime Minister was not pleased.

38 YEAR OLD BUSINESSMAN GUNNED DOWN IN SOUTH TRINIDAD…

A man is shot dead San Fernando.

He has been identified as Christopher Rajbally.

He was 38-year-old

He was owner of top dog pet shop.

Reports say, the incident took place at the old Southland Mall, Union Hall Gulf City around11 o’clock last night.

Newscentre five understands Mr. Rajbally was seated in his car his Range Rover outside v’s casino, when two men came out a white Toyota Aqua motorcar.

The masked men were armed with high-powered rifles, approached his vehicle and fired several shots.

The gunmen got into a car and fled the scene.

The entire ordeal was captured on CCTV cameras.

This is the second murder at the same car park for this year.

1 MILLION IN HOUSING GRANTS & SUBSIDIES…

Close to 90 persons receive over $1 million in housing grants and subsidies distributed by the ministry of Housing and Urban Development.

The HDC says, it is a significant step towards improving the quality of life for citizens.

Line minister Camille Robinson-Regis officiated at the ceremony held at the, Bon Air Gardens Community Centre, Arouca.

The event celebrated the distribution of 59 home improvement grants, valued at $442,500 and 30 housing subsidies, comprising 23 home improvement subsidies and 7 home construction subsidies worth $635,000.

Speaking to attendees, minister Robinson-Regis highlighted the transformative power of the ministry’s housing programmes.

She said, this reflects government’s commitment to vision 2030 and the United Nations’ sustainable development goals, which seeks, to make cities and communities inclusive, safe, and sustainable.

The minister said, these grants and subsidies are more than just financial assistance—they represent hope, resilience, and the foundation for a better future.

GUNMEN KILL CONTRACTOR ON SECOND ATTEMPT…

Gunmen are successful on their second attempt to kill, Praimraj Heerah

45-year-old Mr. Heerah, a Williamsville contractor was gunned down in San Fernando on Tuesday.

Reports say he was attacked while at a property in Cocoyea.

Reports say, Mr. Heerah was taken to the hospital by police where he later died.

In October, he escaped being killed after a volley of shots was fired at his vehicle while at his Ben Lomond Williamsville home.

In that incident, Mr. Heerah was grazed on the left ear and toe.

Following that attack he pleaded for protection for himself and his family.

His 20-year-old son, 19-year-old daughter, and her 20-year-old friend who were also in the vehicle, were unharmed.

DOCTORS UNITE IN CALL FOR CLOSURE OF SALARY NEGOTIATIONS…

A new body representing doctors says, health minister Terrence Deyalsingh has a role to play in bringing a resolution to outstanding negotiations.

The northwest regional doctors association is not pleased, with the kind of representation coming from their umbrella medical practitioners association.

Speaking from the position of a new association, the doctors want better working conditions.

It says, there is a need for clarity, on the state of negotiations between the chief personnel officer and the representing body, the Medical Practitioners Association Of Trinidad and Tobago

President Dr. Kevin Harris is asking health minister Terrence Deyalsingh, to assist.

Dr. Harris said, minister Deyalsingh should act as an independent figurehead, to seek out further information.

Dr. Harris says, his members are yet to settle on an agreed upon figure, for their increased salary demands.

Dr. Harris has stated that, if negotiations continue to stall, the association may seek to become the representative body for medical professionals, replacing MPATT.

He was speaking on the morning show on I95.5, yesterday.

HAZARDOUS SEAS ALERT NOW IN EFFECT…

Trinidad and Tobago is under a hazardous seas alert #2 – yellow level

The latest bulletin is issued by the T&T meteorological service, for open waters and along exposed coastlines of the country.

In an update, the met service says strong east-northeasterly surface winds are rendering rough and choppy seas in open waters, particularly in eastern offshore areas.

It warns wind waves are in excess of 2.5 metres at times, which can be especially hazardous to small crafts and offshore operations.

The met service advises conditions at seawalls, along exposed coastlines can be exacerbated at high tide.

It advises seafarers and those particularly with offshore marine interests, to exercise extreme caution.

The met service says, conditions are expected to remain until 4 o’clock on Thursday afternoon.

NO SHOW…

The Laventille East Morvant MP, Adrian Leonce was a no-show at the screening of the Peoples National Movement, which was held at Balisier House.

There are now questions as to whether or not he is out as a prospective candidate for the seat in the upcoming general election.

He was scheduled to be screened, last evening.

Efforts to reach Mr. Leonce have not been successful.

Mr. Leonce has served two terms as MP for Laventille East Morvant.

He is now the Minister in the Ministry of Housing.

There has been no official word as to his absence at the screening, where several others faced the committee selecting prospective candidates.

TOBAGO RECORDS ITS LARGEST DRUG BUST IN HISTORY….42 MILLION IN NARCOTICS DISCOVERED….

Tobago police seizes drugs worth over $42 million.

Two men were arrested, guns, ammunition and a pirogue seized, along pigeon point beach last night.

Officers have described it as the biggest drug bust in the history of Tobago.

A DOUBLE MURDER IN SOUTH TRINIDAD….HUSBAND AND WIFE FOUND IN A POOL OF BLOOD AT THEIR HOME.

The police service says, crime in the southern division is under control.

Superintendent of the division Rodhill Kirk gave, this assurance despite the double murder in Claxton Bay.

Last evening, a husband and wife were shot dead in thier st. Maragrets, home.

Their identities have so far been given as Basdeo Lallan and Whitney Narine.

Reports say, the incident took place at around  o’clock last night.

Newscentre five understands neighbors reported that the couple was at home, when explosions were heard.

Speaking with newscentre five this morning, Supt. Kirk said, his officers will bring the perpetrators to justice.

Supt. Kirk also said, his officers remain on high alert for the christmas season.

Investigators have so far not determined a motive for the killings.

Investigations are ongoing.
