Andrea Bharrat

Andrea Bharrat has not yet been found.

One of the developments in the probe is the detention of 5 men by the police.

Yesterday the authorities carried out a search in the Fishing Pond Forest in Sangre Grande.

Police say they are following several leads.

Its now been 4 days since the 22-year-old was kidnapped in Arima.

A co-worker who boarded a taxi with her on King Street in Arima last saw her.

Hours later, a ransom was demanded for her safe return.

Ms. Bharatt, works as a clerk in the Arima Magistrates’ Court

And there is a call for caution on the information posted about the kidnapping of Ms. Bharatt.

The warning comes from Commissioner of Police, Gary Griffith.

In a statement, Commissioner Griffith says he notes the media frenzy over this incident and points out that too much information on this case could jeopardise the investigation and place the life of the victim in further danger.

The top cop says while the media has its role to play in society, when it comes to kidnapping the, less said, the better.

PM agrees that the only way to fix impasse of election is a return to the polls

Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley

Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley agrees that the only way to fix the impasse of the THA Election is a return to the polls.

Dr. Rowley is also suggesting possibly changing the number of Electoral Districts in Tobago.

In the Express today, Dr. Rowley says he took note of what happened in the assembly yesterday and he now has to determine if there is any other option, which would negate the Parliament getting involved.

Dr. Rowley reportedly says if there is no way out other than amending the Tobago House of Assembly Act, it would mean making a provision, which would allow the deadlock to be legally broken.

PDP spends night in the Chamber

A night in the chamber of the Tobago House of Assembly for elected representatives of the Progressive Democratic Patriots.

Last night Political Leader of the PDP and his assembly team insisted the suspension of yesterday’s sitting was illegal.

The 6 Assemblymen along with the 6 from the Peoples National Movement yesterday failed again to elect a Presiding Officer.

Several rounds of voting on the 2 nominees resulted in a deadlock.

At the end of the process the house was suspended, but this did not meet the favor of the PDP representatives.

They decided to stay in the assembly chamber calling on the clerk to resume the sitting.

PDP supporters heeded a call by their leaders to bring food and water for them.

Mr. Duke addressed them on the outside of the assembly.

His deputy, Farley Augustine said what was happening was undemocratic.

The PDP has nominated Julian Skeete for the post of Presiding Officer.

The PNM has changed its nominee, from Ingrid Melville to Dr. Kern Johnson.

Last night, loud noise and equally thunderous yes responses were heard as members voted on the private motion.

In making a case for her motion, Mrs. Persad Bissessar demanded that Minister Young be removed.

She says he has handled the exemption process badly.

She accused government of favoritism.

But Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley told the Opposition Leader her motion was misdirected.

Dr. Rowley said he has every confidence in his National Security Minister.

In response, the Tabaquite MP, Anita Haynes cautioned the Prime Minister.

The man himself, Stuart Young described the motion as sad.

He dismissed the motion as a total waste of parliamentary time.

Meanwhile Opposition MP Dr. Roodal Moonilal referred to a reported exchange of words between Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Rural Development, Foster Cummings and Minister Young.

Dr. Moonilal said it showed government members are not on the same page when it comes to the exemption process.

He said this proves there is division in the government.

Dr. Moonilal reiterated calls for the National Security Minister to resign.
