A FATAL SHOOTING AT A ST AUGUSTINE PANYARD…

A pan yard in St. Augustine is the scene of a gun attack which claimed the life of Kester Reid

Yesterday at the entrance to Sforzata pan yard on Evans Street a man walked up to Mr. Reid, and shot him while he was on his cell phone.

He was shot several times from behind

The incident is reported to have occurred at around 3pm.

Mr. Reid was from Five Rivers Arouca, and worked as a service technician at a car care centre on the compound.

The victim died at the scene.

Police are calling the killing a hit.

MURDER SUICIDE BY SHARAZ AGEEMOLAH…

The male relative who reportedly fired shots inside and outside an insurance company in San Fernando is now dead.

His name has been given as Sharaz Ageemolah.

After his rampage he was found inside a vehicle in La Romain.

It is believed Mr. Ageemolah killed himself.

Earlier during the incident at the general accident insurance company at cross crossing shopping center yesterday, a woman was wounded inside the business while a man, Rosario Danny Ramdhan was killed outside.

Mr Ramdhan was 24 years old and was from Claxton Bay.

The woman’s name has not been released officially and she remains hospitalized. Up to last evening she was listed in a stable condition

PRIME MINISTER SAYS MEDIATION WITH GANGS IS NOT AN OPTION…

Prime Minister of Trinidad & Tobago, Dr. Keith Rowley

Earlier at a news conference in Port of Spain Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley declared there would be no police mediation with gangs.

Dr. Rowley insisted neither his Government nor Parliament would bargain with gangs.

He said, leader of the cabinet said, gangs are made of criminals and there are laws to deal with them.

Dr. Rowley reminded the media about his struggles with legislation to deal with criminals. 

Further the Prime Minister noted that the opposition was forced to respond.

Along with the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service is insisting, it has no intention of being part of any brokered peace.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Kurt Simon has rejected the assertion saying, there is a need to put such a claim to rest.

DCP Simon said, to become that involved would be dangerous.

Senior Superintendent Roger Alexander offered a different perspective.

He said, there may be talks but not with the intention of striking a deal.

He added that there are approaches being used at the moment.

CRIME TALKS BETWEEN GOVERNMENT AND OPPOSITION IN LIMBO…

Proposed crime talks are still in limbo as both the Prime Minister and the Opposition Leader accuse each other of not wanting the proposed initiative.

Yesterday Dr. Keith Rowley said, the opposition wants no improvements in the crime situation and is not sincere about efforts to end it.

At news briefing yesterday Dr. Rowley suggested that the opposition is using the increase in crime, to propel its political agenda.

Dr. Rowley said, as it pertains to meeting for discussions, the ball is in the opposition’s court.

The leader of the cabinet further noted that the UNC is making excuses for not responding with suggestions on a time for the crime talks.     

But that’s not what Mrs. Persad Bissessar is accepting.

According to her the Prime Minister keeps changing the script on the promised talks.

SCABIES OUT BREAK IN A BAHAMIAN SCHOOL…

In the Bahamas, several students of a school on Harper Island have contracted scabies.

They were up to last Friday in quarantine.

The acting Education Director Dominique Mc Carty-Russel said, last week several measures were taking place to remedy the situation.

No other school has so far reported cases.

MEN ENCOURAGED TO SHARE WHAT AFFECTS THEM BY A REP OF THE GENDER MINISTRY…

National Security Minister Fitzgerald Hinds says, males have lost their place and have become invisible in the development of Trinidad and Tobago.

He made the observation yesterday, as the world commemorated International Men’s Day.

He was speaking on the eye on dependency program on I95.5 fm.

Minister hinds said, there is a role for men to play in the building of the society.

Speaking on behalf of the Ministry of Gender and Child Affairs Adrian Alexander encouraged men, to open up about what is affecting them.

He said, there are organizations that can provide safe spaces for men to share.

A warning from activist and host of Eye on Dependency Garth St Clair, of the effects of men not dealing with their emotions.

He says, the world can be tough and men sometimes become emasculated by the circumstances they face.

Co-host Natasha Nunez, suggested that men can do more than provide financial support.

International men’s day (IMD) is a global awareness day for many issues that men face, including parental alienation, abuse, homelessness, suicide, and violence, celebrated annually on November 19.

FOUR KILLED IN RECENT DAYS…THE LATEST A MURDER OUTSIDE MOVIE TOWN…

Investigations into the killings of four men are ongoing.

In a weekend of continuing gun violence the dead are identified as Bobby Lutchman aka Dondie, Christian Sansavior, Jason Alexander and Henry Jobe.

The latest deadly incident is reported to have occurred near Movie Towne in the west last evening.

The ID of the male victim has not been released.

At around 1:50am yesterday, Mr. Lutchman was found shot to death in a vehicle at John Street Enterprise Chaguanas.

Mr. Sansavior was shot by three men at Duncan Street East Port of Spain

In that incident five people were wounded and had to be taken to the Port of Spain General Hospital.

The wounded are identified as Shane Duncan, Matthias Kinsale, Anton Ollivierrie, Englebert Roberts and Jaheim Browne all of Port of Spain.

The victims were taken to the Port of Spain General Hospital where Mr. Sansavior, died while being treated.

Henry Jobe was found dead in a house at Benny Road in Valencia.

Jason Alexander was gunned down last Friday, off St. Paul Street in Port of Spain.

HERITAGE INVESTIGATES OIL LEAK IN FYZABAD…

Heritage Petroleum Company Limited responds to a leak in the Massahood area.

Heritage says, on Wednesday it observed a minor leak on a section of the 16” pipeline in the Massahood area.

Heritage says, it notified the relevant authorities, isolated the line, and immediately dispatched a team to repair and clean up the mixture of oil and water.

The company says, the pipeline has been repaired and clean up operations are in progress.

A release says, the Heritage team remains onsite and will continue to manage the response until the clean up is complete.

LICENSES WILL NOT BE REVALIDATED FOR VEHICLES IMPORTED AFTER DECEMBER 31ST…

Trade Minister Paula Gopee Scoon

The Used Car Dealers Association is appealing to Trade and Industry Minister Paula Gopee-Scoon, to extend the date for import licenses by two weeks.

On Wednesday the Minister said, the licenses become null and void on December 31st.

According to a release, the licenses will not be revalidated for vehicles imported after December 31st.

Yesterday, President of the association Visham Babwah said, importers have no power over when vehicles arrive at the port.

He said, global shipping lines are finding it difficult to stick to schedules because of the volume of cargo.  

He is appealing for leniency

The Ministry of Trade says, current import licenses cannot be used for pre-owned right hand drive vehicles.

These include Sedans, Station Wagons and Sports Utility vehicles.

PRIME MINISTER AND DELEGATION MEET WITH CROWN PRINCE ON DAY ONE OF CARICOM SAUDI ARABIA SUMMIT…

A meeting is held between Prime Minister Keith Rowley, other regional leaders, and Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom Of Saudi Arabia.

The meeting yesterday was at the Inaugural

Caricom-Saudi Arabia summit in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

A release from the office of the Prime Minister says, Saudi Minister of state for Foreign Affairs, Adel Al-Jubeir met with Caricom heads at the forty-third regular meeting of the conference of Heads of Government in July, 2022 and proposed initiatives to deepen ties between the region and the Kingdom Of Saudi Arabia.

This engagement is a result of those efforts.

The high-level meeting builds on the strategic alliance between the Caribbean nations and Saudi Arabia, and signals a commitment by all parties to the continued development of an enduring relationship.

The release sent yesterday, Saudi Minister of Investment Khalid Al-Falih, hosted leaders to an investment roundtable meeting for discussions with leading Saudi private sector entities.

Minister of Foreign and Caricom Affairs Dr. Amery Browne and Minister of Energy and Energy Industries and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, Stuart Young accompanied the Prime Minister to yesterday’s meetings.
