Murder in Piparo

Unknown-24The bullet riddled body of a man is discovered in Piparo.

He is identified as Lucky Mohammed of Chickland Road, Caparo.

Reports say police responded to reports of gunshots at Stone Road around 7:30 last night.

It is said when they arrived at the scene the found Mr Mohammed lying in a pool of blood.

Officers say there were gunshot wounds to the back of his head.

 

Investigations are continuing.

Archbishop slams IRO position on child marriage

The Archbishop of Port of Spain is distancing itself from the Inter-Religious Organization’s support of the marriage act.

Archbishop Joseph Harris says the Roman Catholic church is not in support of that section of the marriage act.

Members of the Inter-Religious Organisation met recently on the matter.

IRO head brother Harrypersad  Maharaj said out of the 25 representatives 17 of them were in support of child marriage.

Liberty Global, Cable & Wireless Communications merge

The merged operation of Liberty Global and Cable & Wireless Communications promises substantial business-to-business and submarine fiber operations.

 

The new interim CEO of CWC and former president of Columbus Communications John Reid says the combined forces has now tripled in revenue to US$3.6 billion and will serve ten million video, voice, broadband and mobile subscribers in more than 20 countries.

 

In a conference call with journalists across the region on Monday, Mr. Reid is also quoted in the Business Guardian as saying the size of the combined workforce now stands at 7,200. Mr. Reid takes over from Phil Bentley.

Father and son double murder in Salybia

doublemurderA double homicide in Salybia the victims are a father and son. Reports say Lloyd and Ryan Ramkissoon were shot and killed at their Langusta Trace home.

 

The incident occurred during the early hours of this morning. Neighbors told investigators they heard what appeared to be an argument shortly before daybreak at the Ramkissoon house. They said gunshots were later heard.

 

Police say upon checking neighbours found both men bleeding from gunshot wounds. They were rushed to hospital where they were both pronounced dead. Investigations are continuing.
