Another murder is recorded, this time in Eneterprise, Chaguanas, taking the weekend tally to 5.

In the latest incident the victim has been identified as Sherrod Richards.

He was 18-years-old.

Reports say the incident took place at Tobago Road Extension at around 11:35pm last night.

Newscenter 5 understands Mr. Richards was seen walking along the roadway, when a Toyota Aqua vehicle drove past him.

It is said gunshots were heard coming from the vehicle, which then sped off.

Mr. Richards was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

And Tristan Brandon Wellington was killed when shots were fired at his vehicle yesterday morning.

Mr. Wellington was returning from work when his vehicle was shot at near Pranz Gardens Claxton Bay.

The 30-year-old man was hit in the  head, face and chest.

Meanwhile 37-year-old Roger Williams was gunned down in San Juan while 2 of his friends Renako Williams and Crystal Fletcher were wounded. 

According to police report the trio was liming at Bagatelle Road Extention in San Juan at around 11: 15pm, when they came under fire.

Police say Mr. Williams died on the spot while 29-year-old Renako Williams and 38-year-old Ms. Fletcher were rushed to hospital.

Earlier at around 7pm in Moruga, a man identified as Darryl Boodoo was shot and killed at a parlor located on La Ruffin Road.

According to police reports Mr. Bodoo was selling in his family’s parlor when a customer approached and asked to buy a pack of biscuits.

It is said Mr. Boodoo was returning to the customer with the snack, when the man whipped out a gun and opened fire.

Relatives heard the shots and found 41-year-old Mr. Boodoo was found lying in a pool of blood.

And a chopping incident in Barrackpore leaves 1 man dead and another in critical condition.

The deceased is 36-year-old Amit Boodoo, of Jaipaulsingh Trace, Barrackpore.

The incident occurred around 6:30pm, last Friday.

A 54-year-old mechanic from Princess Town is shot dead as he lay in a hammock outside his home.

Reports say Vishnu Rahim he was lying in his hammock outside his St. Julien Village home yesterday afternoon when he was shot several times.

According to the reports at around 3pm a vehicle pulled up at the house, a man alighted, approached Mr. Rahim and shot him at close range.

The shooter returned to the vehicle and sped off.

Mr. Rahim was taken too the Princes Town District Health Facility where he was pronounced dead.

There is no motive yet for this killing.

Meanwhile police are continuing their probe into the killing of 16-year-old Rohabino Ramsaroop.

He was shot on Wednesday night at Sunshine Avenue, San Juan.

It is reported he got into a fight with a man he knew.

The man is reported to have left the area but returned later.

Shots were fired from within a slow moving vehicle.

Rohabino was hit several times and died on the spot.

His grandmother is reported as saying he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Police in Port of Spain say they are making inroads in curbing school violence in the area.

Word of this from Superintendent of the Municipal Police of the Port of Spain City Corporation, Glen Charles.

Superintendent Charles says work done through the Public Welfare and Engagement Unit has yielded success.

He says criminal activity in the city is closely monitored via a special platform shared between the police and business owners.

Also commenting is Senior Superintendent of the Port of Spain Division Neil Brandon-John.

Superintendent Brandon-John says policing in the capital comes in the form of one city approach involving the TTPS, Municipal Police and other protective services.

However, he says while it has yielded some success, gangs continue to pose a challenge.

Both men were speaking during a media briefing of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service yesterday.

Members of the public are told to stop condemning and demonising police officers, after 8 of them are arrested and charged with murder.

This from former Police Commissioner Gary Griffith.

Mr. Griffith says it is hard enough being an officer.

Speaking on the Morning Show on i95.5fm yesterday Mr. Griffith said for police officers to now carry the tag of murderer is too much, especially if the courts have not yet ruled on the matter.

It was under Mr. Griffith’s watch the 3 men in Morvant were shot dead by police officers back in June 2020.

The 8 officers appeared in court earlier this week, charged with killing Israel Moses Clinton, Noel Diamond and Joel Jacob.

Mr. Griffith dismissed claims that if he were in office the matter would not have reached the court.

The 8 accused are to return to court on August 16^th.

They are Sargeant Joseph Solomon, Corporal Charles Budri and Police Constables Jameel Mohammed, Sherwin Baptiste, Colin Furlonge, Mark  Lewis, Sean Lord and Vaughn St. Cyr.

A judge says no to bail for 6 police officers accused of murdering 3 friends in Moruga.

Sgt. Khemraj Sahadeo and PCs Renaldo Reviero, Glenn Singh, Roger Nicholas, Safraz Juman, Antonio Ramadin are accused of murdering Alana Duncan, Kerron Eccles and Abigail Johnson on July 22^nd, 2011.

During a hearing yesterday High Court Judge Norton Jack declined to use his discretion to grant the bail applications.

Twenty-seven-year-old Mr. Duncan, of Duncan Village, San Fernando, 29-year-old Mr. Eccles, and 20-year-old Mr. Johnson, both of St. Mary’s Village, Moruga, were in a vehicle when they was stopped by the officers at the corner of Rochard Douglas Road and Gunness Trace in Barrackpore.

Initial reports claimed that the friends shot at the officers, who returned fire.

A WPC was initially charged alongside her former colleagues from the San Fernando Robbery Squad, but the charges were dropped after she agreed to testify against them.

She was instead charged with conspiring to pervert the course of justice under her plea agreement.

The deaths of the 3 friends sparked heated protests in Moruga.

In July 2013, the officers were committed to stand trial at the end of their Preliminary Inquiry.

A date for their trial is yet to be set.

Relatives of the 3 friends have brought a lawsuit against the State over their wrongful deaths and is each seeking over $2 million in compensation.

A Local Government Councilor accuses the government of playing politics with the distribution of pipe borne water.

Cedros representative Shankar Teelucksingh says the Water And Sewerage Authority is playing games.

Residents from several communities in Cedros took to the streets in protest on Tuesday.

They said they have been without a pipe borne supply for months and truck borne supply is far and few in between.

Yesterday Councilor Teelucksingh accused WASA of diverting water to other areas.

Councilor Teelucksingh said persons are suffering.

He believes households are getting water based on the party they vote.

On July 12^th WASA issued a statement saying the utility was working to address water supply issues affecting customers in parts of Icacos/Cedros.

WASA admitted that the area, which is at the extremities of the Granville Water Treatment Plant Distribution System, has experienced an inconsistent water supply recently.

It said this was due to reduced production at Granville Well #17, leading to an overall deficit in water supply, relative to demand.

As such, WASA said the authority has been delivering a truck borne service to the affected households, which is ongoing.

Tenants of the Housing Development Corporation owe over 1 billion dollars in mortgages.

Housing Minister Camille Robinson Regis unveiled the debts at the launch of the updated Online Portal Housing Application Fulfillment system yesterday.

Minister Robinson Regis explained the impact of the arrears as it relates to HDC’s contractors and suppliers.

Further the Minister linked much needed repairs to the debts owed.

She also revealed that there are over 193,000 housing applications in the system.

A fully decomposed body is discovered in La Brea.

Newscenter 5 understands, the corpse was found near the Labidco Jetty yesterday afternoon.

Members of the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard, police service and a District Medical Officer visited the scene.

The body was ordered removed at around 4pm.

Up to the time of the newscast the body was not identified and the gender could not be verified.

Investigations are underway.   

A teenager is shot and killed in San Juan.

Up to news time his name was not released but the authorities say he was 16-years-old.

Reports say the incident took place at Sunshine Avenue at around 9:30 last night.

Newscenter 5 understands the young man was said to be liming among a group of friends when gunshots rang out.

Checks later revealed the teenager suffering from gunshot wounds.

He was taken to hospital where he died while under going emergency treatment.

Investigations are continuing.
