Man tries to escape by running his vehicle off a cliff during a police exercise where he was found with over $70,000 worth in marijuana

unknownOne man is to appear in court for possession of over $70,000 in drugs.

 

Reports say the find was made during a police exercise on Friday.

 

Newscenter 5 understands six persons were arrested during the operation for narcotics and outstanding warrants.

 

A man from Santa Cruz was arrested with five and a half kilograms of marijuana with a street value of over $75,000.

 

Officers of the Rio Claro C.I.D say the man attempted to flee but the road was blocked off.

 

The man subsequently ran his vehicle off a cliff.

He was then held with the drugs in the front passenger seat of the vehicle.

 

He is expected to appear in the Rio Claro court

Defense Force assuring action to be taken against any military member who were in the wrong regarding family of AG

imagesThe Defense Force is today assuring action would be taken if any member of the military were found in the wrong regarding the family of the Attorney General.

 

The Defense Force says an internal board of inquiry has been launched to determine how the family of AG Al-Rawi came to be at the Defense Force base in Cumuto.

 

According to senior Public Affairs Officer, Major Al Alexander, the inquiry is in its early stages.

 

He explains that several officers involved in the training exercise are yet to be interviewed.
On Friday, former Minister in the Ministry of National Security Subhas Panday demanded that serious action be taken against those responsible allowing children to handle high-powered rifles.
Major Alexander says if their findings conclude that there was in fact a breach corrective action would be taken.
