A call from former Minister of National Security for police officers to be immediately outfitted with body cameras

There is a call from former National Security Minister Gary Griffith for the police service to be immediately outfitted with body cameras.

Mr. Griffith says this will help officers in gathering evidence in the execution of their duties.

Last week Adil Griffith was fatally shot by police in San Fernando.

The incident was captured on tape and posted on social media.

Head of the Police Association Micheal Seales said government had no choice but to implement body cameras.

The former minister agrees saying, police officers need the tools to carry out their duties.

Mr. Griffith further believes the use of firearms should be a last resort.
