Twelve Venezuelans are held as they arrived on a beach in Palo Seco Beach, Palo Seco.

Reports say last Saturday officers of the Santa Flora Police Station received information that a boat with Venezuelan nationals came ashore illegally.

The officers proceeded along the beach front and saw 1 silver Tida motor vehicle and 1 silver Almera vehicle parked on the shore with the 12 Venezuelans packing their luggage into them.

The vehicles were stopped and the Venezuelans and the drivers of both vehicles were detained, and transferred to the Siparia Health Facility for COVID-19 screening.

Afterwards, they were transferred to Staubles Bay, Chaguaramas, for self- quarantine.

The 2 drivers are Trinidad nationals.

Investigations are continuing.

Two hundred and ninety three nationals onboard the quarantine ship, are to be removed to State facilities on land.

Word of the relocation comes from the Ministry of Health and come amid complaints about the conditions on board the quarantine cruise ship docked in local waters.

In a release yesterday, the Ministry of Health said the nationals on the Enchantment Of The Seas Cruise Ship, will be taken off and monitored at State facilities.

The Ministry claimed the decision to quarantine everyone on land was taken after a virtual meeting involving the Ministry of National Security, the authorities on the ship and the Port Authority.

The Health Ministry said in light of the 3 recent COVID-19 cases from on board the ship, out of an abundance of caution the nationals will tomorrow be allowed to disembark.

It said the land quarantine would facilitate the continued monitoring of these nationals.

There have been reports that the passengers have not been pleased with what has been taking place on board the ship.

Some are quoted as saying the situation has become hostile and frustrating.

Over the weekend, Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley said he is contemplating order the bars to close once again, because of what he said are irresponsible actions by patrons.

President of the Bar Owners Association Teron Mohan said yesterday the situation is a vexing one.

He said he has reached out to the Prime Minister and the Minister of Health.

Mr. Mohan has praised the Health Sector for its work in protecting the country.

He urged his members to follow the protocols and guidelines aimed at stemming the spread of COVID-19.

Two of the three men shot dead by police in Morvant are identified.

And the relatives of one of the victims are crying foul on the part of the police officers involved.’

The two dead men are Israel Clinton and Joel Jacobs.

Both were from Jumans Avenue, Morvant.

They were shot and killed by members of the Guard and Emergency Branch on Saturday afternoon.

Police say they were shot during an exchange of gunfire at Second Caledonia.

The killings took place hours after PC Allen Moseley was gunned down off Morvant Old Road on Saturday.

The Police Commissioner Gary Griffith says there is no connection between the two incidents.

Officers say they came under attack by 3 men in a vehicle.

According to the officers the men were ordered to get out of the vehicle.

Police say one of them pointed a firearm in their direction forcing a response.

All 3 were hit.

They were taken to hospital where they died.

Speaking with reporters shortly after the killings on Saturday, relatives of Joel Jacob described his killing as murder and want a thorough investigation into the incident.

His sister Candice Jacob said his family has seen CCTV footage of the incident and her brother was unjustly killed.

And his mother Karen Jacob said officers executed her son.

The Police Complaints Authority has launched a probe into the matter.

Jessie Mascall is shot dead in Petit Valley.

That incident took place at Ravine Bata Circular around 12:45 yesterday morning.

A man told the police he was walking in the area when he heard gunshots.

He told investigators upon checking he found Mr. Mascall lying in a track with several bullet wounds to his face.

The District Medical Officer was contacted and pronounced him dead at the scene. Investigations are underway.

The man shot and killed in Diego Martin is identified as Marlay Valentine.

He was 43-years-old.

Mr. Valentine also known as “Mango Dog”, lived at Patna Village, Diego Martin.

He was gunned down at River Estate shortly after 9 o’ clock last night.

The incident is said to have occurred at the basketball court in the area.

Police are trying to ascertain a motive for the killing.

The Minister of Culture and the Arts is insisting a newspaper headline was wrong when it implied that Carnival 2021 is on.

The article in the Trinidad Guardian forced a release from the Minister, saying no decision has been taken regarding the staging of Carnival next year.

Minister Dr. Nyan Gadsby Dolly yesterday said the article and its headline sent the wrong message.

Dr. Gadsby Dolly said once the country continues on the road to successfully fighting the virus, Carnival is likely.

Last weekend, she told Newscenter 5 there was no plan to cancel Carnival.

In the release yesterday the Minister said the government has been managing successfully the COVID-19 pandemic and any decision on hosting Carnival will be made with careful consideration to the trajectory of the virus.
