Levi Vanhanghen is identified as the man shot dead in St. Joseph
Reports say the incident took place at Wharf Trace Maracas St. Joseph around 9:15 am yesterday.
Newscenter 5 understands several explosions were heard and residents investigated.
They found the Mr. Vanhanghen suffering from gunshot wounds.
Police were contacted.
Officers arrived on the scene and took him to hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Investigations are ongoing.
Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh says steps have been taken to decentralise testing.
He tells the COVID-19 Media Briefing that to this end thousands of test kits have been acquired.
Minister Deyalsingh gave a breakdown of the figures.

A 13-year-old boy in Glendale, Utah, was shot several times by police officers after his mother called 911 for help with his mental health crisis.
Linden Cameron, who has Asperger’s, a form of autism, is now in a serious condition in hospital.
His mother Golda Barton said she had believed police attending on Friday night would use “the most minimal force possible”.
Salt Lake City Police Sgt. Keith Horrocks told reporters that the incident was now being investigated.
Speaking to local CBS-affiliate KUTV, Ms. Barton said she told the 911 operator that her son needed to be taken to hospital for treatment.
She said he was experiencing a crisis because it was her first day back at work in almost a year and he has bad separation anxiety.
At a press conference, Sgt. Horrocks said officers were called to a “violent psych issue” and reports that a boy – who they did not name – had made “threats to some folks with a weapon”.
He added that there was no indication when they attended that the boy was armed.
Sgt. Horrocks said an officer shot the boy when he tried to flee on foot.
According to an online fundraiser set up to raise money for medical bills, Linden Cameron has suffered “injuries to his shoulder, ankles, intestines and bladder”.
The long-term effects of his injuries are still unknown, but it is likely that his recovery will be long and require multiple kinds of treatment.
An 83-year-old woman has become the latest patient to die of the coronavirus in Jamaica.
The death of the woman brings to 34 the number of COVID related fatalities.
Prime Minister Andrew Holness said yesterday most of the deaths are among the elderly.
As a result, Mr. Holness has announced some strict guidelines once again.
The curfew times have also changed.
As of yesterday curfews will commence from 8pm to 5am the next morning.
Prime Minister Holness said there is a surge and there is no room for complacency.

The body of a 73-year-old man is discovered at a bus shed in Chaguaramas.
The find was made yesterday along the Western Main Road near Powerboats.
He has been identified as Ian Middleton.
Police say there were no marks of violence on the body.
An autopsy has been ordered.

A 16-year-old boy has appeared virtually before the Children’s Court charged with the murder of a 71-year-old woman.
Reports say Kowsil Ramkhelawan was killed on 24th August 2020.
The teen was charged with the offence following advice received from Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard SC yesterday.
Reports say Ms. Ramkhelawan, of Coalmine, Sangre Grande, was at her home when a male assailant stabbed her with an ice- pick, who then ran off.
She died at the scene.
The teenager was ordered to re-appear in court on September 29th.
Yesterday, TTUTA Vice President, Kyrla Robertson Thomas described the situation as disturbing.
She noted that the Education Ministry’s initiative would assist both troubled students and teachers working with them.

Wildfires have burned through a record number of acres in California this year as firefighters continue to battle several large blazes across the state.
The state’s Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, Cal Fire, says more than 2 million acres have burned, more than the size of Delaware.
Officials say one fire, El Dorado, which has spread over 7,000 acres, was started by a gender reveal party.
California is currently experiencing a record heat wave.
Los Angeles County reported its highest ever temperature of 49.4c on Sunday.
Although temperatures are expected to drop from Tuesday onwards it may bring strong winds, which could fan the flames, the National Weather Service warns.
Cal Fire said more than 14,000 firefighters continue to battle 24 fires across the state.
The largest blaze, known as The Creek Fire, has burned more than 78,000 acres since it broke out in the Sierra Mountains on Friday, and the authorities said none of it had been contained.
