AG admits the issue of decriminalizing marijuana was not discussed at the Cabinet level

faris-al-rawiAttorney General Faris Al Rawi admits the issue of decriminalizing marijuana was never discussed at the Cabinet level. On Sunday evening, Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley expressed some unease following a newspaper report, which quoted Mr. Al Rawi as saying work has started on the possible decriminalization of small amounts of marijuana.

However when questioned about it dr. Rowley said cabinet never discussed that, and as far as he was concerned it was not an issue being contemplating. The media then approached Mr. Al rawi. He explained that the Prime Minister was right, Cabinet never discussed it, but his Ministry was dealing with the matter in a context. The Prime Minister’s position came at a news conference before he left on an official trip.

On a separate issue the Prime Minister assured that work on several stalled projects would commence soon. He added that construction of the controversial Point Fortin highway project would also resume. Dr. Rowley will be out of the country for 12 twelve days.
