Some 35 persons are today without jobs after fire ravaged an alcohol wholesale store in San Juan.

B and J Wholesalers on Prizgar Road, San Juan, went up in flames during the early hours of yesterday morning.

Damage has been estimated at millions of dollars

There is no word yet as to the cause of the fire.

Residents say smoke was seen coming from the building at around 1am.

The fire service was contacted and officers from the Santa Cruz and San Juan Fire Stations responded.

However it is said by the time the tenders arrived the scene, the business place was engulfed in flames.

Officers were unable to save the store but they were successful in stopping the fire from spreading to nearby homes and other businesses.

Investigations are continuing.
