The Police Complaints Authority has completed the preliminary probe into the bank accounts of Assistant Commissioner of Police Irwin Hackshaw.

Word of the development came from the PCA’s Director, David West this morning.

The injections of significant amounts of money into the ACP’s accounts have raised some suspicions, and call for an investigation.

Mr. West told Newscenter 5, the matter is now with the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Police Commissioner Gary Griffith has come under some fire for his treatment of the issue involving his senior officer.

He has also denied claims that his executive has been stalling investigations into the financial transactions of ACP Hackshaw.

The Single Fathers Association says it must never be forgotten that men are also victims of domestic abuse and they are too ashamed to talk to the police or relatives about it.

President Rondell Feeles says in some instances, the men themselves are not aware women are abusing them.

His comment follows the murder of Kevon David Goddard.

33-year-old Mr. Goddard was stabbed multiple times in the back and shoulder during a reported incident at his home on Monday night.

Relatives say he had just ended a relationship with a woman who has been detained by police.

Today, Mr. Feeles says this is the second such situation to occur in recent times.

Mr. Feeles says organisations representing men and women need to come together.

He says even television advertisements on domestic abuse show only women as the victims.

Mr. Feeles says this has to stop.

A shooting in 7^th Avenue Malick leaves one man nursing gunshot wounds.

The injured man has been identified by the alias “Boyo”.

Reports say the incident took place at Upper 7^th Avenue in Malick around 8:30pm last night.

Newscenter 5 understands residents reported hearing several explosions in the area and called the police.

When lawmen arrived they found the man bleeding from his wounds.

He was taken to hospital where he is said to be listed in a stable condition.

This is the second said shooting in the space of 2 days.

We are told this is due to the recent rival war that has been reignited between 6^th Avenue & 7^th Avenue, Malick.

Police have charged a 38-year-old man in connection with the sexual assault against 3 girls.

The victims are ages 6, 10 and 12.

The suspect was expected to appear before a Sangre Grande Magistrate yesterday.

Police say they were investigating an incident, which allegedly took place on April 12^th, when the victims were taken on a family outing, which included the man who is known to their mother.

The victims told police while at the river, the suspect is alleged to have sexually assaulted the 6-year-old in the presence of the 10-year-old, and then masturbated in their presence.

A report was subsequently made to the Eastern Division Child Protection Unit and a joint investigation was conducted.

The officers found that a 12-year-old girl, a relative of the 2 girls had been having sex with the suspect against her will since March.

The suspect, upon learning that the CPU was in pursuit of him, fled and had been in hiding since.

He was held on Friday and was charged with 3 counts of sexual penetration of a child, 1 count of sexual touching of a child, and 1 count of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

Police were up to yesterday seeking the public’s help in finding 2 teenagers, reported missing.

Fourteen-year-old Anameka Walters last seen at her West Bayshore, Marabella home at around 4pm on Saturday 12^th September.

She was reported missing to the Marabella Police Station, around 7pm, by a relative later that day.

Police say Anameka is of mixed descent and medium built with a brown complexion and shoulder-length black hair.

She was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and a pair of blue jeans.

And 17-year-old Cerllis Mendoza was last seen at her Second Caledonia, Morvant home at around 8am on Saturday 12^th September.

She was reported missing to the Morvant Police Station, at around 10pm Saturday by a relative.

Police say Cerllis is of mixed descent; 5 feet 6 inches tall and slim built with a light brown complexion and long curly hair.

She was last seen wearing a black and white top, a pair of black jeans and a pair of black slippers.

Cerllis also wears glasses.

Members of the public are being asked that anyone with information about the 2 teenagers should report it to the police.

Opposition Leader Kamla Persad Bissessar says as the number of COVID-19 cases explodes with rising deaths, the Rowley regime is simply repeating the same tired propaganda lines over and over. 

In response to the Prime Minister’s statement on Saturday she says in a release that the definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over and expecting a different result each time.

Mrs. Persad Bissessar says it is now depressingly clear to all citizens that the government has no clear and focused plan to adequately deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Opposition Leader wants the immediate establishment of a COVID-19 Intelligence Unit where all national security and health agencies will communicate and execute strategic plans and operations in unison and in real time. 

She also wants teams of health officers deployed to ensure COVID-19 regulations’ compliance by businesses and the public. 

Additionally Mrs. Persad Bissessar calls for increasing stocks of PPE for frontline workers, and an increase in the number of beds available for patients with more serious symptoms. 

She says the government must act decisively and not with an “it’s bad all around the world” mentality.

The opposition says it continues to urge citizens to follow the public health guidelines and take the necessary measures to protect themselves and their families. 

Fifty-three people have now died of the coronavirus in Trinidad and Tobago.

In its 10 am statement yesterday, the Ministry of Health said the 2 people are an elderly man and woman, both of whom were said to have had co-morbidities.

In its last release yesterday the Ministry said there were a total of 23 new positive cases.

They took the number of positive cases up to 3,042 and the number of active cases to 2,217.

The Ministry said the 23 additional cases were taken from samples sent during the period September 2^nd to September 12^th.

Earlier in the day the Ministry said two people were warded at the Intensive Care Unit at the Couva Hospital and 5 in the High-Dependency Unit.

There were 29 patients at the Caura Hospital and 4 at the Arima General Hospital.

A total of 1,929 people were said to be under home isolation via the continuous monitoring of the respective County Medical Officer Health Offices.

The Ministry said there were 128 patients at state step-down facilities: 7 at UWI, Canada Hall; 50 at UWI, Freedom Hall; and 71 at NAPA (used by health workers who have finished their tour of duty).

The number of people discharged stands at 772.
