An E-Commerce consultant is suing the Comptroller of Customs after a sex doll he tried to import was seized.

The live size doll was taken last December.

The man, a resident of Chaguanas, received the permission of a High Court judge to challenge the seizure.

The leave to apply for judicial review was granted last Friday by Justice Ricky Rahim.

The consultant has asked that his name not be used, but in his lawsuit, he said he imported the plastic doll on December 28^th.

The man said he researched to see if there were any laws against the importation of such an item but found none.

However he said when the sex doll arrived in Trinidad and Tobago he was told by customs it was being seized because it is considered to be in breach of Section 45 (1) of the Customs Act.

He said a notice of seizure was issued to him pursuant to Section 220 of the Customs Act, which said the item was seized because it was deemed to be a prohibited item namely an indecent/obscene article.

The consultant, who is represented by four attorneys, wants the mannequin to be returned to him with compensation.
