The Jamaica Defence Force has reassigned to non-operational duties, the soldiers who shot and killed a disabled woman at her home.
Last week during a Joint Police Military Operation in August Town, St. Andrew, Susan Bogle was killed by soldiers.
It is alleged the soldiers chased someone into the yard of Ms. Bogle’s home and shot the 44-year-old woman multiple times, while she was in bed.
The Force is said to be cooperating fully with the Independent Commission of Investigations and is awaiting the findings of the probe.
Four of the soldiers involved in the incident were interviewed by INDECOM last Friday.
Ms. Bogle’s son, Omari Stephens, who has been advocating for justice on various social media platforms, says his only goal is to get the matter dealt with fairly and for the soldier who shot his mother, to face the full extent of the law.
Prime Minister Andrew Holness last night expressed his regret at the killing of the woman.
He also said he has spoken with Ms. Bogle’s son.
The Prime Minister said when someone’s life is taken by the State there are protocols.
Over the weekend a group, which identified itself as ‘Concerned Citizens’ started a petition on change.org, seeking a speedy investigation into the incident and the intervention of the Prime Minister, Director of Public Prosecution and Minister of National Security.
