A senior police officer has been found dead at his Trincity home.

With a bullet wound to the head, Inspector Ronald John is believed to have committed suicide.

Inspector John was found on his stomach at his Third Street East Delamare Avenue Trinicity home yesterday afternoon.

Police officers from the Arouca Police Station also found a firearm close to the body.

44-year-old Inspector John was last attached to the Barataria Police Station.

Police at the Arouca Police Station say they received a trouble call telling of explosions heard at the house.

What is said to be a suicide note is now being circulated on social media.

Police say they have interviewed relatives and were told he was ailing for some time.
