A group of doctors is insisting the pediatric COVID-19 vaccine is not necessary and may carrying some troubling side effects.

Although the government, via the Health Ministry has dismissed the concerns, some medical professionals are standing by their call to stop the vaccination of children.

Dr. Rajiv Seereeram of the Frontline Health Care Professionals Group says the Ministry is guilty of not being transparent and breaching ethics.

The group is pushing for acceptance of a declaration, which calls for the setting up of a fund to cater for children who suffer bad side effects after taking the vaccine.

Several health care professionals have endorsed the declaration, which was unveiled and discussed at a town hall meeting last week.

Pediatrician Dr. David Bratt told the meeting, the vaccine is flawed and not as effective as it should be.

And Dr. Javed Omardeen is yet to be convinced the vaccine is needed.

Several doctors have attached their names to the declaration, which calls on the Ministry of Health to immediately stop the vaccination process.
