Caricom leaders will begin talks on violence as a public health issue.
The leaders are already in Trinidad and Tobago for the much talked about symposium.
Today and tomorrow the leaders will try to find workable solutions for the crime situation, which has plagued many of their territories.
Prime minister Dr Keith Rowley is the lead head of government in the region with responsibility for crime and security.
He is the host Prime Minister for the two-day event.
Chair of the organizing Inter-Ministerial Committee Minister Of Housing And Urban Development, Camille Robinson Regis says, members of the public can contribute to the discussions.
Mrs Robinson Regis also says it will be widely broadcast and streamed.
The symposium will see contributions from several regional experts and leaders including Barbados’ Prime Minister Mia Mottley and her Grenada counterpart Dickon Mitchell.
Caricom’s Secretary General Dr Carla Barnett will also speak this morning’s opening ceremony.
