Cruise ship workers who returned to Jamaica and Grenada have tested positive for the Coronavirus.
Jamaica’s Prime Minister Andrew Holness yesterday confirmed that following tests done on the nationals who returned late last week, positive results were delivered.
At a news conference the Prime Minister said the disembarkation of over 1,024 cruise ship workers from the adventure of the seas, was completed on Monday.
Just fewer than 1,500 Jamaicans have now been returned using the controlled re-entry program.
In Grenada Health Minister, Nicholas Steele has also confirmed that one of the returnees from a cruise ship has tested positive for the Coronavirus.
At a news conference yesterday the Minister said the patient was one of the 45 cruise ship workers who returned home last weekend.
This means Grenada now has 23 cases of the virus.
Minister Steele said yesterday the person who tested positive was exposed to the virus through no fault of his or her own.
He is not surprised by the positive case.
The Minister is appealing to people to stop stigmatising those whose jobs put them in a higher risk of being exposed to the Coronavirus.
