Guyana, like many Caribbean countries has been seeing a decrease in the number of COVID-19 deaths over the past 2 months.
New cases of the virus are also on the decline.
In a 24-hour period last Thursday there were only 20 new cases recorded.
Health officials believe the country’s vaccination drive has worked.
Nevertheless, Health Minister Dr. Frank Anthony is pleading with Guyanese to avoid complacency.
He warns such an attitude has consequences, because COVID can live on.
He says while the numbers are significantly lower now, people still need to be vaccinated.
Up to last week, a total of 332, 605 adults have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in Guyana.
