Travellers on Green Band Maxi Taxis are this morning digging deeper in their pockets.
New fares along some routes are now in effect.
The operators of the maxis say they have not increased fares for several years, although there have been adjustments in fuel prices.
President of the Route-3 Maxi Taxi Association Vikash Kissoondath last week said there is little choice for the operators.
He said the last increase in fares was in 2017.
Mr. Kissoondath said discussions are now taking place regarding possible fare increases on the San Fernando to Chaguanas route.
Last week the association’s Arima to Talparo increased fares.
Commuters are paying $5 for short drops and $2 more for off routes.
