Clean up operations continue in south

image-3.1636846.0e7793c673Mop up operations are continuing in the south of the country including the Princes Town, Barrackpore and the Woodland areas.

 

An official of the Penal/Debe Regional Corporation Gowrie Roopnarine says over three hundred homes were affected.

 

He was speaking with Newscenter 5 yesterday.

 

He said he had some concerns as persons affected by Tropical Storm Bret are yet to recieve their grants.

 

The Ministry of Works and Transport and the Office of Disaster Preparadness and Management were on the field yesterday distributing relief items.

 

Minister Rohan Sinanan told Newscenter 5 the process was stalled on Saturday due high water levels.

 

And Captain Neville Wint of the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management assured every resident affected would be taken care of.

 

 

Capt. Wint also appealed to citizens to do their part to help reduce flooding.

 

Over the weekend tractors and trucks from the Penal/Debe Regional Corporation, members of the Regiment and Fireofficers assisted in the evacuation of affected families.
