Members of the Fire Service are continuing their efforts to put a blaze at the Beetham Landfill which started overnight.

In a statement the Solid Waste Management Company Limited says the fire started shortly before 11 o’ clock last night.

It says smoke that is currently blowing into the capital Port of Spain is residual smoke. According to SWMCOL the cause of the blaze is not yet known.

SWMCOL says the Beetham Landfill will be temporarily closed until further notice

It is asking all stakeholders to divert all services to the Guanapo or Forres Park Landfills.
