As the world observes Suicide Prevention Day today, there is a call for an urgent intervention locally given the alarming rate of the affliction globally.

Director of the Ministry of Health’s Mental Health Unit Dr. Hazel Othello says according to W.H.O. figures there are 800,000 suicides a year.
