Trinidad and Tobago is now into phase three of its COVID-19 reopening of the economy today, even though the first new infection in over a month has been recorded.
The 117th case is a man who was flown into the country via an Air Ambulance last Thursday afternoon.
He was travelling with two relatives but he was the only one tested positive for the Coronavirus.
The Health Minister, Terrence Deyalsingh said the man is now in isolation.
The revelation came just a couple hours after Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley announced the lifting of some COVID-19 related restrictions.
Also from today retail shops will open bringing relief to many business owners who have been concerned about the future of their businesses post COVID-19 measures.
Public transport remains untouched in this part of phase three, so taxis are still restricted as to the number of passengers they carry.
Malls will be opened; so shopping returns but no dining is allowed in the food courts.
Caribbean Airlines is being told it can go ahead and increase the number of flights on the air bridge and the sea bridge will see more traffic as well.
But with the lifting of some restrictions, the ban on gatherings of more than 5 people in any one space remains in effect.
