PM says he can’t remember the last time he spoke with Fuad Abu Bakr

Prime Minister of Trinidad & Tobago, Dr. Keith Rowley

Fuad Abu Bakr is now saying he made himself available for screening by the Peoples National Movement, after speaking with Political Leader, Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley

But Prime Minister Rowley says he can’t remember the last time he has spoken with Fuad Abu Bakr.

Via his Facebook page today, Prime Minister Rowley dismissed the claims of Mr. Abu Bakr.

On the Take Two program on i95.5fm yesterday, Mr. Abu Bakr said the Prime Minister wanted him to come into the PNM and present the people of Port of Spain south.

He claimed Rural Development and Local Government Minister, Kazim Hosein was also enlisted to help him through the process of screening.

But Dr. Rowley wrote on his Facebook page this morning he never invited Mr. Abu Bakr into the PNM, far less through a backdoor.

The Prime Minister said the backdoor is zealously and heavily guarded by the Articles of the Party’s Constitution.

Dr. Rowley said it is good to see Mr. Abu Bakr showing an interest in joining the PNM and wanting to do national service but he is going about it in a bizarre way.

As a result the Prime Minister said he has instructed the party’s general secretary, Foster Cummings to thank him for the interest shown.

Mr. Cummings has been told as well to enclose a copy of the PNM’s Constitution with the relevant sections on membership, the screening process and selection duly highlighted.

Last Thursday Mr. Abu Bakr was not among the 3 nominees screened by the PNM for the constituency of Port of Spain south.

The nod was given to athlete, Cleopatra Borel.

Mr. Abu Bakr is now vowing to continue the struggle to help the people in need.

He has rejoined his New National Vision and intends to team up with other independent minded parties to contest some seats in the upcoming General Election.
