It’s Election Day in Tobago.
After weeks of campaigning, Tobagonians will finally vote today for a new executive.
The polls opened at 6 o’clock this morning and close at 6pm.
There are 45 candidates representing 5 political parties in today’s election.
Fifty one thousand three hundred and eighty three are eligible to vote across 67 polling divisions.
Today’s poll comes more than 10 months after the January 25th election, which saw a 6/6 tie between the Peoples National Movement and the Progressive Democratic Patriots.
Both the Peoples National Movement and the Progressive Democratic Patriots are fielding a full slate of 15 candidates, while the Innovative Democratic Alliance will be fielding only 13 candidates.
The Class Action Reform Movement and the Unity Of the People will field 1 candidate each in the Buccoo/ Mt. Pleasant electoral district, which is the only district to attract candidates from all 5 political parties.
