Tobago is set to see an increase in COVID ICU capacity in the coming weeks.
This as work on the ICU at the COVID-19 facility at Fort King George is nearing completion.
Acting Medical Chief of Staff Dr. Victor Wheeler said while ICU capacity was being expanded Tobagonians should not become complacent.
Addressing the Tobago COVID-19 media briefing yesterday Dr. Wheeler also explained why moving nurses, doctors and beds from the ward level to boost ICU capacity is simply not possible.
Earlier this week Principal Medical Officer in charge of institutions, Dr. Maryam Abdool Richards lamented the space issue at Intensive Care Units.
She said they are near capacity and this is worrying.
