The Tobago arm of the ruling People’s National Movement could get a new political leader before the end of this year. The revelation was made by Incumbent Leader and Chief Secretary Orville London.
Speaking on the Rise and Shine programme on Tobago Channel 5 yesterday Mr. London said the time is right for new leadership in the party. He said all things being equal; a new leader should be elected sometime between July and September this year.
Mr. London has repeatedly stated his intention to demit public life when his current term as Chief Secretary ends in 2017. Former Member of Parliament for Tobago East Rennie Dumas has already announced plans to contest the position.
While they have not yet confirmed their intentions, Deputy Chief Secretary Tracey Davidson Celestine and Secretary for Community Development and Culture Dr. Denise T’soia Fatt Angus are widely tipped to be candidates for the leadership as well.
