National Security Minister Edmund Dillon says there has been no spike in murders since the start of the New Year. For the year 2016 there have been 17 murders in 10 days. Minister Dillion says most murders reported in recent days have been gang related.
When asked by the Opposition Leader, Kamla Persad Bissessar what is being done to arrest the spiraling crime problem the minister listed some new initiatives. National Security Minister Edmund Dillon says for the year 2015, 731 citizens were reported missing.
Speaking during the question and answer segment in parliament yesterday Minister Dillon said the Trinidad and Tobago police service recorded 98 kidnappings during the period January to November 2015. Minister Dillon said police were working to address the issue. On another issue Minister Dillon said work had begun on the refurbishment of a number of Fire Stations across the country.
