Sunil Dookie has been charged with the murder of his ex wife, Reshma Kanchan.

Ms. Kanchan was chopped to death while waiting on transport near her Penal home on September 29^th.

Mr. Dookie appeared virtually before Siparia Magistrate Aden Stroude yesterday.

The charge of murder was read to him.

Thirty-six-year-old Mr. Dookie was not called upon to plead and he was unrepresented during his appearance.

He was remanded into custody and must go before the magistrate again on November 9^th.

Ms. Kanchan of Laltoo Trace, Penal was chopped on her neck, face and arms.

Twenty-three-year-old Ms. Kanchan, a mother of two, died on the roadway, not too far from her home.

Yesterday there was wound on Mr. Dookie’s neck because of his suicide attempt. He spent several days at hospital under police guard.
