Taxi operators plying the St. Ann’s & St. James routes are set to increase their fares by one dollar.
The increase takes effect on June 1st.
The fare increase was announced by Vice-President of the St Ann’s Taxi Association Ronald Frederick.
According to Mr Frederick, the increase, the first in eight years, was a result of the removal of the fuel subsidy for diesel gas and the rising cost of living.
Increases in off route fares have not yet been announced.
