A prisons officer dies at hospital, moments after he was shot in Laventille.

He is identified as Fitzal Bert Victor. Mr Victor was shot several times about the body while at his Prizgar Lands home this morning.

Reports are saying he was washing his car when he was approached by an armed assailant.

The gunman then opened fire on the officer hitting him several times about the body.

Officer Victor was rushed to the Port of Spain general hospital where he died while undergoing emergency treatment.

Investigations are continuing.
