The prison executive says the murder of Supt. David Millet is related to the stabbing of three prison officers at the Maximum Security Facility.
Prison Supt. David Millet was gunned down near his Morvant home yesterday.
The incident is said to have occurred around 8:30 am. Reports say Mr. Millet was leaving his 2nd Caledonia Morvant home when he was shot. Only hours before Supt. Millet’s death three prison officers were stabbed during a routine search at the Maximum Security Prison in Arouca.
Reports say officers conducting the search on Sunday found a switch blade in one of the cells and ordered the inmate to hand it over. President of the Prison Officers Association Cerron Richards described what happens next as a near death experience. Mr. Richards also said the situation warrants the immediate intervention of the powers that be.
News Centre 5 has been reliably informed that the prison executive now believes that Supt. Millet’s demise is connected to the stabbing incident. The executive is said to be holding to the view that Supt. Millet who was on leave and not part of the search, was ordered killed from persons behind prison walls in order to send a message to the prison service from the criminal element.
Last night Commissioner Sterling Stewart made it clear that this action will not go unpunished and those responsible will pay a high price. Commissioner Stewart who preferred not to be recorded said he intends to see this matter to its end and he nor his officers will be deterred in their duties.
