A prison officer with 19 years of service is expected to appear before a Port of Spain Magistrate today.
He is charged with trafficking marijuana in prison and misbehavior in public office.
The officer, who was on duty, was held last weekend at the Port of Spain Prison. It is alleged he had 11 packets of marijuana in his possession.
He was arrest at about 10 P.M on November 25, in the dormitory of the prison.
The officer, was taken to the Belmont Police Station where he was questioned.
Over the weekend, investigators received instructions to charge the prison officer. He is expected to face the courts today.
