Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley tells the Oilfield Workers Trade Union, he will not be threatened.
The union represents workers at state owned refinery Petrotrin.
Dr. Rowley says he has no fear of losing an election, and will do what is right to protect the interest of the people of Trinidad and Tobago.
The Prime Minister was addressing his party’s sports and family day in central Trinidad yesterday.
Dr. Rowley referred to the ongoing situation at state owned Petrotrin, and the warnings of the OWTU and its leader, Ancel Roget.
Last week, Mr. Roget said he intends to lead members to the official residence of the Prime Minister where they will pray for the right people to run Petrotrin.
But yesterday, Dr. Rowley said the interest of the people of this country will be put first as his government tries to restructure Petrotin.
At a news conference last week Ancel Roget said Petrotrin was on the verge of collapse.
He and his union have been calling for the removal of Petrotrin chairman, Wilfred Espinet.
