Trinbago Knight Riders creates history as it takes the Hero Caribbean Premiere League title in 12 straight unbeaten matches.
The home team beat the St. Lucia Zouks by 8 wickets in an exciting final yesterday at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy.
The final scores were TKR 157 for 2 and the Zouks in the end were 154 all out.
Lendl Simmons and Darren Bravo ensured Trinbago Knight Riders completed the first perfect season in franchise T20 history with an unbroken partnership of 138 off 88 balls, the highest of CPL 2020 and the highest ever in a final.
Prime Minister, Dr. Keith Rowley congratulated the team on its win.
In an online video, Dr. Rowley said the win came at a good time.
Dr. Rowley also took a dig at Prime Minister of St Lucia, Allan Chastenet.
There were questions over the staging of the tournament given the COVID-19 pandemic and the closure of borders.
The players were brought in and kept in a virtual bubble that the government said would be effective in curbing the transmission of COVID-19 between players and the public and vice versa.
