Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture Avinash Singh says the former Peoples Partnership administration disrespected farmers.
In his contribution to the Budget in the Senate yesterday Mr. Singh noted that not many young people were interested in agriculture as there was too much red tape attached.
The Government Senator described it as shameful that in the last 5 years only 12 persons applied for agricultural grants.
He laid the blame squarely on the shoulders of the past regime.
Senator Singh also said his government intended to address the issue of the Livestock Industry.
Senator Singh also noted the issue of praedial larceny, which he said needed urgent attention.
