Police are investigating several killings and gruesome discoveries today.

Among the dead are popular radio announcer Elijah Babb.

Mr. Babb worked as a deejay, for sister station red96.7fm and was known as  “Sugars”.

He was 27 years old.

He was shot at point blank range in Laventille, at around 8:15 am yesterday.

Newscentre five understands, Mr. Babb was seated in a passengers side of a parked motor vehicle, when he was approached by a man armed with a gun.

The assailant fired several shots and fled the scene.

Mr. Babb was pronounced dead, upon arrival at hospital.

Meanwhile, the early morning shooting in Petit Valley, claims the life of one man.

Police say, Terrance Clarke also known as “Timeless” was attacked and shot at, Upper Simeon Road around midnight yesterday.

He was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead around 12:27 yesterday morning.

A shooting in the capital city, left one man dead and another nursing gun shot wounds.

Investigators say, Mosi Ross also known as “Buss Up” and another man were on Charlotte Street around 9:45 on Saturday, night when they were shot.

Mr. Ross was declared dead on arriving at the hospital, while another man wounded in the incident remains in a stable condition.

Pedestrian road traffic deaths in Trinidad and Tobago are said, to have increased by more than one hundred per cent.

TTPS road safety coordinator SGT Brent Batson says, for so early in the year the road fatality figure is not looking good.

Mr. Baston says, the victims are mainly homeless people along the highways.

He says, it is a tough issue to tackle for the TTPS.

He says, internationally it is difficult for persons to even get onto the highways, far more cross the busy carriageways.

He says, maybe it is time for a review of the rules and certain procedures must be followed.

The Water and Sewerage Authority says, several communities are already experiencing the effects of current weather conditions. 

WASA confirms, the 2024 dry season continues to impact water sources across Trinidad and Tobago. 

However, communications officer Daniel Plenty assures temporary supply schedules are being prepared, and will be issued to address the current water supply challenges.

Mr. Plenty is calling on consumers to conserve water during this time.

The authority notes, it is aware that some communities have already been adversely affected, and will work to provide the necessary relief.

WASA says, customers needing assistance can get truck-borne water via its mobile app

The five missing Cedros fishermen are said to have set out for Venezuelan waters when they left these shores.

So says, Minister of National Security Fitzgerald hinds.

The men have been missing since Saturday.

Member of parliament for Oropouche East, Dr. Roodal Moonial questioned the minister on the search for the men today.

Minister Hinds said, the search has so far yielded no result.

He was speaking during the questions for urgent answers, in the parliament today.

Police have charged, Kamau Farai in connection with the death of 12-year-old Ezekiel Paria.

Mr. Farai went before a magistrate on Tuesday, charged with possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition.

He was remanded and the matter was adjourned.

It is said, Mr Farai may be charged with other offences, as investigators are to approach the office of the director of public prosecutions, for guidance.

A second suspect detained after the young boy’s death, remains in custody.

Ezekiel was fatally shot one week ago while on Laventille Road.

It is reported suspects in a Toyota Corolla motorcar, were shooting at a Kia Sorento SUV, driven by a 39 year old man.

The man’s daughter was in the vehicle.

The driver of the SUV was hit and is hospitalised.

Ezekiel was shot in the head and died later.

His funeral is scheduled for today.

Fresh from the conference, Dr. Rowley is suggesting restrictions be placed on lyrics that promote violence and denigrates women.

The prime minister wants such music to be condemned, but he sees no sense in imposing a ban.

Dr. Rowley said, his take on the issue does not support, an across the board ban.

Dr. Rowley said, other aspects of life are restricted and the genre should not be encouraged.

Most notably, national security minister Fitzgerald Hinds has condemned, the “trinibad” genre, which, he also says, contributes to crime.

Government says, close to 320 firearms have been seized as state agencies intercept suspicious packages, coming into the region from the United States of America.

Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley says, this is as a result of a collaborative approach to the illegal gun trade between, the US and Caricom.

Dr. Rowley says, a report on January 10^th this year shows the joint effort is bearing fruit.

He says, efforts are being made to bring the country’s security force, up to acceptable standards.

Prime Minister Rowley says, there is a positive outcome to be had working along with the United States, at the source end of the supply of the guns and ammunition.

He was speaking yesterday at the VIP lounge, at the Piarco International Airport, on his return from the 46th regular meeting of the Caricom heads of government in Guyana.

Persons, who have wild meat in their possession, are being told to quickly dispose of them as the hunting season comes to a close.

The hunting season officially closes today, in accordance with the conservation of wildlife act chapter 67:01.

In a release the division of food security, natural resources, the environment and sustainable development, reminds members of the public that the closed season runs from April 1^st to September 30^th.

It adds, the month of March is a grace period, which allows for the disposal of, any prohibited meat articles during the closed season.

Assurance from the police, to principals of schools in east Port of Spain.

That the police service will be taking swift action aimed at dealing with the violence spilling into school zones.

At a meeting of stakeholders yesterday, Senior Superintendent Harripersad Ramnarine said, police will ensure the safety of dedicated educators, and secure the future for the beloved and vulnerable children.

During the discussions, the principals expressed serious concerns over the safety of their schools, students, and staff. 

Some of whom have to commute daily through high-risk areas.

The meeting yesterday also followed the murder of, Amor Howe, outside the Gloster-Lodge Moravian Primary School, about one week ago.

The situation left students; teachers and other members of staff traumatized, and forced a shut down of the school.

Yesterday, president of the Trinidad and Tobago Unified Teacher’s Association Martin Lum Kim said, classes resumed on Monday with calls for a greater police presence around the school.

Mr. Lum Kin said, calls for the students to write the secondary entrance assessment at another location, are yet to be answered.

He is telling his members who invigilate the S.E.A if they feel, their safety will be at risk they should do what they can to protect themselves.
