A date for Internal Election in the United National Congress has been announced.
UNC leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar has been under pressure to hold the elections.
Last night during a virtual report to the nation, Kamla Persad-Bissessar announced the date, as her final topic at the meeting.
Mrs. Persad-Bissessar also said the elections will be held according to COVID-19 measures and protocols.
Since leading her party to a defeat in the August 10th General Election, there have been some calls for Mrs. Persad-Bissessar to step down.
She has rejected such calls and has already indicated her intention to contest the polls when they are held.
There has been a campaign mounted by some, including former Minister and UNC activist, Devant Maharaj, aimed at getting her out of office.
