New Commissioner of Police responds to a media report which says he was not the lead candidate for the job.

The Sunday Express report yesterday quoted the KPMG assessment which it said did not rank Gary Griffith at number one.

The article refuted Mr. Griffith earlier claim.

But in a release yesterday Mr. Griffith took the media to task saying rather than spending time on personality it should instead be focusing on position and performance.

Mr. Griffith said he expected push back by a few based on his style of standing firm on doing what is right and operating with no fear of anyone.

But he said, what the nation has been seeing has been quite startling.

He is telling the public he expects this scrutiny to continue throughout his time in office.

Mr. Griffith said he will not be distracted from the task at hand because his focus when he assumes office will be to provide a degree of security to each and every law abiding citizen.

Referring to articles published Mr. Griffith said when such reports and comments go overboard he is forced to respond for clarification.

Mr. Griffith is disputed the contents of the article saying KPMG actually placed him first in the itnerview in stage one.
