Murder accused Andre Romeo says he didn’t kill Richard and Grace Wheeler. Mr. Romeo shouted to reporters yesterday, he can smile because he knows he didn’t do it.

Both Mr. Romeo and Naajib Hills were taken to the Scarborough Magistrate Court yesterday, one week after the chopped bodies of the Wheelers were found at their Carnbee home.

23-year-old Mr. Hills also claimed yesterday he was tortured by police to speak while being interrogated. He told the court his testicles were squeezed while he was in the care of the police. The claims have been denied by Police Prosecutor Marvin Campbell.

Andre Romeo is from Roach Trace, Mt. Pleasant, and Mr. Hills, is from St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Both construction workers stood before Magistrate Cheryl Ann Antoine. UK-born attorney 73-year-old Richard Wheeler and his Trinidad and Tobago born wife 67-year-old Grace Wheeler were found hacked to death. The file on the matter will now go to the Director of Public Prosecutions for a state attorney to be appointed to prosecute the case.
