The man described as a political giant, Kamaluddin Mohammed has been laid to rest. Hundreds yesterday paid their last respects to Mr. Mohammed, hours after he died at the age of 88.

At the Nur E. Islam Mosque in El Socorro past and present MPs and top ranking officials gathered for the funeral service. Mr. Mohammed served Trinidad and Tobago at various levels and as Minister in several administrations of the Eric Williams era. Among the mourners acting Prime Minister Colm Imbert.

Mr. Mohammed’s niece Nafessa Mohammed, who has also served in the parliament, said he was a giant of a man, yet humble. Also paying his respects was former Prime Minister and MP, Basdeo Panday. Mr. Panday recalled some of the disappointments Mr. Mohammed faced in his decades of political service to country and region. Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley and Opposition Leader Kamla Persad Bissessar heaped praises on Mr. Mohammed for his contributions to the country.
