The meeting between the Joint Trade Union Movement and Labour Minister Jeniffer Baptiste Primus has been pushed back to noon today.

Both sides were expected to meet at 10 o’clock this morning, to discuss the decision by the national gas company to freeze all salaries and benefits for workers for the rest 6of 2015 and 2016.

However, the meeting has since been moved to 12 noon. The meeting was scheduled before the NGC’s decision.

On November 16th, the NGC sent out a memo to all staff, informing them about the cutbacks. The company said it has been badly affected by low commodity prices.

The company said, this is expected to continue “into the foreseeable future, resulting in significantly lower revenues and earnings; much lower than have been experienced over the past five years”.

Some 1,500 workers at NGC and its subsidieries will be impacted by the decision.
