Officers of the Homicide Bureau are now investigating the death of a 23-month-old child. An autopsy on the body of Khristha Knutt says she died as a result of blunt trauma to her head and electrocution.
Police reports say relatives of baby Khristha took her to the Port Of Spain General Hospital saying she was suffering from a cold and was put to sleep on Sunday night. According to the relatives, when they checked in on her hours later she was not breathing.
The child was then rushed to hospital. But there are reports that a Laventille man tried to revive the child using powered electrical cords. The grandmother of the child, Marlene Rawlins is in shock.
The man who is reported to have used the cords has since been detained by police and so too the child’s mother. Mrs. Rawlins told reporters yesterday she was concerned about the company her daughter was keeping. The child and her relatives live at upper Erica Street, Laventille.
