Attorney General Faris Al Rawi

Attorney General Faris Al Rawi is hinting at the resumption of hangings.

He says his government plans to apply the laws of the land including capital punishment. But he says there will be an overhaul of the criminal justice system.

With regard to persons on trial for murder, Mr Al Rawi said yesterday, a committee has been set up, where its members would tell the public everything concerning those matters.

He said in instances where persons have been sentenced to death, the committee would tell the country why.

Mr Al Rawi said his government plans to strengthen the criminal justice system, and this is evident in the national budget. Mr Al Rawi was speaking during the budget debate in the parliament yesterday.
