The family of Brian Smith say the Defence Force is covering up the truth regarding his drowning. The 30 year-old drowned at St. Peter’s Bay in Carenage over the weekend. His body was fished out of the water on Sunday morning.
Speaking with Newscenter 5 yesterday his sister Imani Smith said he was beaten by soldiers doing repair work on the house damaged by a Defence Force helicopter earlier this month.
On Monday night the residents staged a demonstration near the main road in Carenage, setting tyres ablaze. Several police officers went to the scene to contain the action. Ms. Smith said the drowning was no accident. She said she just wants the soldiers to tell the truth.
