Minister of Agriculture Clarence Rambarath says fish in the southern peninsula are good to eat.

Some weeks ago thousands of dead fish were discovered along the shoreline of the Mosquito Creek.

A statement from the Environmental Management Authority and the Institute of Marine Affairs had suggested that the fish may have been dumped in the area.

However, environmental group, Fishermen and Friends of the Sea believes the fish were poisoned by corexit, a chemical used to clean up recent oilspills in the area.

But Minister Rambarath maintains that tests by the EMA and the IMA show that there is low toxicity in the fish.

And he is denying claims by FFOS that the fish are not fit for human consumption.
