A taxi operator and a female passenger are murdered in Westmoreland Jamaica.

The incident occurred yesterday.

Dead are 43-year-old taxi operator Garfield Allen of Hartford, Westmoreland and woman identified as Onecka Samuels.

Another female passenger was shot and wounded during the attack.

Her condition is said to be serious but stable.

Reports are that yesterday morning Allen was driving along the Smithfield Main Road towards Savanna-La-Mar when he was signalled to stop by the driver of another car that drove up.

When Allen failed to obey the orders to stop men from the car opened fire on the taxi hitting the three occupants.

They were all taken to hospital where Allen and Samuels were pronounced dead.

A motive is yet to be established for the attack.

These latest killings have pushed the number of murders recorded in the parish to 95 since the start of the year, 57 more than the 38 committed over the corresponding period last year.
