Crime Watch host Ian Alleyne has been detained by police. The incident occurred around 11 o’ clock this morning in the central district.
Newscenter 5 understands a group of police officers were at the home of a central businessman when the incident occurred. We are told the businessman was at the time surrendering to police when Mr. Alleyne attempted to enter the compound.
The officers reportedly told him, a police exercise was in progress and he could not enter. A confrontation ensued, as Mr. Alleyne then reportedly pointed his hand in the face of one of the officers and then allegedly used obscene language.
Newscenter 5 understands the officer attempted to arrest him when a struggle ensued. The Crime Watch host was later detained and then taken into custody. He could be charged with using obscene language and resisting arrest.
He is expected to appear in court today. Members of the central division and other officers were conducting the exercise. They were about to take a central businessman accused of domestic abuse into custody when the incident occurred.
The businessman is said to have surrendered to police this morning days after a woman posted a number of photographs on social networking site Facebook claiming the man beat her. She claimed she was abused for some 12 years and could no longer stay in the abusive relationship.
